The typical distance to a 4G and 5G base station in the city is hundreds of meters and in urban areas from a few hundred meters to a couple of kilometers. In rural areas, there are clearly fewer base stations, and sometimes the nearest mast is even ten kilometers away. Generally, however, there are already masts 3-5 km away.
Covering all common 4G and 5G LTE bands, the base stations feature software-defined radio, allowing great flexibility of operation and future upgrade paths. The CableFree Advanced 4G and 5G LTE SDR (software-defined radio) Small Cell Base Station – Outdoor Version – is suitable for a wide variety of applications.
You can find the locations of the base stations from Cellmapper.net map service or the customer service of the teleoperator. The typical distance from a 4G or 5G base station in a city is hundreds of meters, and in a suburban area, it ranges from a few hundred meters to a couple of kilometers.
The optional outdoor MIMO antenna (with two wires) or SISO antenna (with one wire) can be installed instead of the supplied indoor LTE antennas for operation at greater distances from base stations. The antennas are to be purchased separately. — If you know the connection frequency to the base station, it makes sense to use a narrowband antenna.
